This dough is easy to work with - it has no baking powder - so the cookies bake smooth and flat - without any small bumps. It makes decorating easier. This is a recipe from my late mother. Every year she made dozens of cookies at Christmas time to share with family and friends. I’ve carried on her tradition.

These Sugar Cookies are a soft cookie. They have been in the family for many years, and a favorite for my son over seas.

Ingredients
1/2 C. butter
1 C. sugar
1 egg
1 tsp. vanilla
1/2 C. sour cream
3 1/4 C. flour
1 tsp. soda
1/2 tsp. salt
Directions
Cream butter, sugar, egg, vanilla and sour cream. Mix all the other ingredients together. Roll onto lightly floured surface. I like to keep them a little thick. You will need to play with the dough to make them the way you like them. If you make them too thin, they will turn out hard. Bake at 400 degrees for 8-10 minutes.
