Molasses Crisp Cookies Recipe

If you love the taste of molasses then this is the recipe for you. Try making these instead of you plain old chocolate chip cookies.

Ingredients

1 C. molasses
1 C. (2 sticks) butter
1/4 C. hot water
2 tsp. baking soda
1 C. sugar
4 C. flour
2 tsp. salt
1-1/2 tsp. ginger
1/2 tsp. cloves
1/2 tsp. allspice
2 tsp. cinnamon

Directions

Bring molasses to a boil; remove from stove and melt butter in it. Add baking soda to hot water. In a large bowl, measure in sugar and pour molasses over top. Pour baking soda/water over top - it will froth over. Mix well.

Sift and add flour, salt, and spices; mix well. Put in loaf pan lined with waxed paper and refrigerate overnight.

Cut dough thin and bake at 325 degrees for 12 to 14 minutes on well greased pan. Remove from pan immediately.
