Anise Slices Recipe

There’s only a little of it, but anise is the star of this dessert.

Ingredients

    * 7 C. all-purpose flour
    * 7 tsp. baking powder
    * 2 C. sugar
    * 2 C. vegetable oil
    * 7 eggs
    * 1/2 tsp. salt
    * 1 tsp. anise extract or 1/4 C. ouzo
    * sesame seeds (optional)

Directions

Sift flour and baking powder in bowl. Set aside. Combine sugar, oil, eggs, salt and extract in large electric mixer bowl. Beat at high speed 10 minutes or until light and creamy. Remove bowl from mixer. Gradually add the sifted flour, folding with spatula until flour is blended into a soft dough. Cover and chill for at least 1 hour or overnight.

Double Chocolate Anise Cookies Recipe

These cookies are chocolaty and chewy with a taste of anise. Delicious and perfect for Christmas!

Ingredients

2 C. flour
1 C. cocoa
1 tsp. cinnamon
1 tsp. baking soda
1/2 tsp. salt
1 1/4 C.(2 1/2 sticks) butter, softened
2 C. sugar
2 eggs
1 1/2 tsp. anise extract
1 tsp. vanilla extract
1 1/2 C. semi sweet chocolate morsels
1 1/2 C. chopped walnuts

Directions

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Mix together flour, cocoa, cinnamon, baking soda and salt. In a separate mixing bowl, beat butter and sugar until fluffy. Add eggs, anise and vanilla; beat well. Gradually add flour mixture, beating well. Stir in morsels and walnuts. Drop by rounded teaspoonfuls onto ungreased cookie sheets. Bake 8-10 minutes. Do not over bake. Cool on cookie sheets 5 minutes. Remove to wire rack. Cool completely.
